Welcome to The Foundation

I wrote Dismantling Religion because truth does not need protection from questions. You do not have to agree with the claims in this forum. You do need to test them. Each discussion takes one inherited Christian assumption, puts Scripture, history, language, and lived experience on the table, and asks what follows if the evidence points somewhere unexpected.

Read critically. Bring counterevidence. Tell us where the argument holds—and where it does not.

If God now lives in people, what is a religious institution supposed to provide that the Spirit has not already made available? The New Testament moves the language of temple, priesthood, teaching, and divine presence away from sacred buildings and into human lives. That is not a decorative metaphor. It dismantles the machinery that keeps people dependent on someone else for access to God. The Spirit has been poured out. The veil is gone. You are not waiting outside the temple—you are the temple. If that is true, we must ask whether our systems cultivate direct relationship or quietly rebuild the separation Jesus came to end.

Before we walk through it: Name the assumption you brought with you. Then test whether the evidence lets you keep it.

The Argument

  • The Spirit has already been poured out on all flesh.
  • Believers are already the dwelling place of God, not people awaiting a new temple.
  • Knowing God is now inward and universal, not mediated by religious hierarchy.

Key Scriptures

  • Acts 2:17
  • Ephesians 2:18
  • Jeremiah 31:34
  • 1 John 2:27
  • John 14:26

Over to You

Where does healthy spiritual community end and religious mediation begin—and what evidence would help us tell the difference?
